The Source of Container Rain

Moisture or moisture bai is brought into the container along with the cargo. The degree of humidity/moisture usually present in the cargo depends on the type of product and the relative humidity in the surrounding air at the time of loading. Obviously, the relative humidity of the air in tropical regions will be much higher than that in temperate regions. Therefore, when the goods are loaded into the container, moisture or water vapor is also introduced. For example, if a container contains 5 tons of furniture, the furniture itself will contain about 8% to 25% humidity, depending on the type of wood and the degree of drying of the furniture. This is equivalent to approximately 400-1250 liters of water. Some of the moisture here will be dissipated into the air in the container and become an important source of moisture condensation in the container.

The volume of a 20-foot container is approximately 33 cubic meters. In a cubic meter of subtropical air with a relative humidity of 90%, there are 33 grams of water at 32°C, which is 1.3 liters of water in total. (At the same temperature, a cubic meter of air with a relative humidity of 55% contains 28 grams of water. On the contrary, a cubic meter of air with a relative humidity of 100% and a temperature of 0 ℃ contains only 5 grams of water, or a total of only 0.2 liters of water. 3 grams of water per cubic meter at 55% relative humidity.) Once the air temperature outside the container drops, 1.2 liters of water will condense on the inner wall of the container or the surface of other items in the container. At 25°C and a relative humidity of 90%, the moisture content in the air is relatively high. At about 22°C and a relative humidity of 50-60%, the moisture in the air is relatively low.
